Couple's Boudoir Session In Modern Home in Topanga Canyon, California
An epic week at an epic location with an epic group of humans that I adore. Carly & Travis renewed their vows after 10 years of marriage and I feel so dang lucky to have been here with all of these amazing folks, showering them with photos and love. The morning after their vow renewal I got the chance to spend some time photographing them.
I donβt think I will ever get over this trip to California and how gd mind blowing it was to have been invited out to photograph Carly & Travisβ first boudoir session, individually and as a couple. I was a bit nervous at first. I always am and get way too in my head when photographing friends. I also donβt photograph coupleβs boudoir often. Or much at all. I started alone with T to get him warmed up, then was Cβs turn and then the magic happened when I brought them together. Boudoir is such an intimate type of photography. Itβs easy for people to be nervous and tense at first. But these twoβ¦ these twoooooβ¦ it was an immediate connection that inspired me right away. All of the previous inspiration, mood boards and ideas in my head instantly were forgotten and all I could focus on was what was unfolding right in front of my eyes. I saw love. I saw tenderness. I saw intimacy and I saw an immense amount of trust. It was beautiful. I even had to step away for a minute to let out the tears that I had been holding back. Knowing peopleβs stories, seeing their love, knowing their journey and seeing the people you love celebrate and be celebrated is a beautiful thing. I was reminded that marriage and partnership should be celebrated at your wedding, but even MORE than that, itβs important to celebrate your love, joy and overcomings, often, afterwards. AND TAKE ALL THE PHOTOS. Iβm forever grateful and honored for this opportunity.
